I'd rather be outside spray painting stuff, but it's rainy and cool here today. The weather had better improve, since I'm writing a guest post on another blog in less than two weeks that involves spray paint!
How about a quick update to our lovely three-season porch? It's featured in my post about making fabric flowers and feather wreaths.
It has a fantastic slate floor that's been polyurethaned (is that a word?), in shades of green-ish grey with a few rusty accent stones, so the furniture on the porch is a rich, spice-orange.
I keep thinking that I'd like to update the porch even more. We added the furniture (there's a nicely sized table, as well, made of the wood-looking metal you see on the chairs and darker metal that looks like hammered iron) in 2008, as a present to ourselves for surviving nursing school. I may have been the one studying, but it was certainly a team effort! So, let's see what I'd add to update it four years later.
I love these curtains! Three sides of the porch are all windows, and while that's great for the light and air we get, it'd be nice to have a little privacy. I think the tan trellis pattern would work nicely with the spice-colored chairs and the natural tones of the slate floor.
I don't think an outdoor chandelier would be necessary, given that the porch is fully enclosed and fairly weather-proof, but I can't imagine it would hurt. I like the curves of this chandelier.
This is, unfortunately, only available in stores. But hey, maybe that way, you won't get charged $390 in shipping! (It's almost funny, now. Almost.) I love the subtle border. It adds interest, but wouldn't compete with the pattern in the curtains or on the chairs.
I have no idea where this would fit on the porch, but I love the idea of a portable bar!
A few extra throw pillows, perhaps? I love the Suzanni-like print on these.
I love this print! It'd be overwhelming on a larger scale, but I think on a pillow, it's just right.
I think spaces that border on being outdoor benefit from some green. Since my cats have a penchant for eating foliage (I'm talking to YOU, Strider), this fake ficus does the trick.
My mother loves dragonflies. I would think of her every time I looked at this. Speaking of, wow, I really need to do some shopping for Mother's Day.
And while we're fantasizing, how about new dinnerware to go with the updated porch? The first one is much more subdued, while the second echoes the colors and pattern of the throw pillows.
And finally, how about some safer barware to complement that bar cart? These are plastic, but I think they look just as nice as glass - and no risk of shattering into tiny owie pieces!
Okay, I'm done window-shopping at Target for the day. If we do update the porch, we would do it in little bits and pieces, and we'd definitely look around for the best bargains. I don't think I'd ever do an entire room from the same store. I way too eclectic in my decor tastes for that.
While I'm at it, though, what do you guys think of a weekly feature of "window shopping from X?" Is that fun, or a snooze-fest?
